The Inspirational Poet Giovanni Maria Tommaso

Poetry as we know is like a story from the most passionate place in our heart or mind that is brought up through what can be intense and epic thought sessions to be so gently laid upon a soul for the very relaxed and restful thoughts of the audience to enjoy, and with this it brings to attention that poetry is a fine art of extraordinary talent.
Giovanni Maria Tommaso is a great friend and delicate poet.  He is true and his heart rings with the most beautiful sounds through his poetry.  He is a true Italian and born with the soul of a strong writer. He is the mastermind inspiring me to write bigger and better.
I first met Giovanni at a great friend's house named Ed Posa.  Ed is a renowned artist and very good I might add.  My family and I were sitting at his table eating authentic Italian bread when Ed mentioned Giovanni who was a poet.  I had heard the name before but hadn't had the chance to meet him until later when we were about to leave.  Giovanni entered with warm hearted gestures with his wonderful friend Louise and when I was introduced and heard that he also played accordion I was really intrigued.
He was very nice, but as I said we were on our way out so I didn't get a good chance to talk.  It wasn't until a month later that I got the chance to formerly see him at a Traumatic Brain Injury group meeting.  I got to talking to him and was very interested in reading that wonderful poetry.  At the end of the meeting I looked into one of his books called As Simple, Simply Said.  It had very nice work in it and I was impressed even though I am not a poetry connoisseur.  It felt very authentic and new.  It was a style and way of writing poetry that I have never experienced and I truly enjoyed it.
He told me that I should write a review for it and at first I was hesitant because I was not very good with poetry, but as we got to talking I began to realize that writing a review would be cool and help him out hearing what I thought.
I am not famous by any means, but he took an interest to me and decided to give me and my brother signed copies of his books; which I thought was utterly awesome.  Throughout the night he gave me tips and told me how he feels when writing and why he does it.  He also told me a little about his life story and it was a story to remember and one that I will never forget.  He told me to make a document folder and each day I should write in it about anything.  He said that he developed a poem in 20 minutes based on stuff he had written days ago.
Ed joined us in our conversation and we started talking about poetry and he said a particular statement that was deep and honest to his feelings.  I saw Giovanni out of the corner of my eye grab a napkin and pen.  He began writing and he wrote the exact phrase that Ed had just said and he looked at me and said in a calm gentle tone, "This is how I write my poetry… I live," it was right then and there that I knew this guy was genuine through his poetry and I couldn't wait to read more.  I began to tell him about the stuff I had been working on and he was very interested.
He has helped me in life in ways that will only make me a better person and writer. I have decided to learn Italian for I am Italian as well, and I want to speak it fluently.  I hope to see the day in which Giovanni and I sit and write together in happiness.  Ciao.
A heart spoken piece for Giovanni Maria Tommaso.

Poem Review by giovannimariatommaso
Waiting in anticipation for a poem review is like waiting
in the school hallway to speak to the Principal. Or to

Sit in the dentist chair to have your teeth cleaned with a
sharp steel scraper, hooked to grasp and pull. Eons

Seem to drag with no sense of relief in sight. Will the
poem be understood for its insight of character or will

It be rejected because of unstable facts and/or principals
seen in an unreal perspective; contrived or feigned.

I know not but I do hold to the proposition that unless one
lives the facts physically, mentally, or vicariously, you

Cannot know of that which you speak about or tweak. So,
I ask for guidance and strength to read the writing on

The wall and have the ability to understand it for this world
can only be deciphered for us from above. Am I being

Too banal or melodramatic in my presentation or am I not
writing forcefully enough to leave a mark of impression?

Poem for Joseph and Nick Bellavia

Writing can be so exciting; reviews cautious: I wrote a poem the other day and it sat for 4 hrs 30 mins before it was reviewed by someone, many read it but no responded with a review. Eventually it was reviewed and the reviews were favorable. Of course I was relieved but the anticipation for some strange reason got to me and reminded
me of my grade school years and a trip to the dentist office too. So, I wrote this poem and my anxiety lulled.
